Reading Assignment

The current reading assignment is Chapter 5, sections 1 and 2.

The Assignment

For a computer with a 16 GB main memory, 16 MB cache with 128 1024 bit cache lines, draw a diagram that shows how main memory byte addresses would be partitioned by the cache into tag, line number, and byte offset fields for a cache memory. (This problem is like the top part of Figure 5.7, but with different numbers.)

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that it would be a good idea to do the assigned reading before working on this assignment!

Submission

Write your answer (neatly!) on a piece of paper and bring it to class on the due date.

You can get “on time” credit for it if you slip your assignment under my office door before 5:00pm on the due date.
